Tanabe Chikuunsai IV
Born in Sakai, Osaka in 1973, he inherited the name of Tanabe Chikuunsai in 2017. With intricate skills and techniques passed down through generations,Chikuunsai creates installations and modern artworks as well as traditional crafts. He has been increasingly active on the international stage, including exhibitions at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, British Museum,Guimet Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art,and collaborations with luxury brands. He has received the 2022 new face prize of the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts and the Osaka Culture Prize.
