Bicycles and Mini-motorcycles Parking Prohibited Areas
更新日:2025年4月1日
Introduction
In Sakai City, the concentration of bicycles and other vehicles around train stations became increasingly severe around 1983, and abandoned bicycles and mini-motorcycles on the road caused traffic obstructions and disrupted daily life, becoming a social problem.
In order to address this issue of abandoned bicycles, the Sakai City Ordinance on the Prevention of Abandoned Bicycles, etc. was enacted in 1987, which has three pillars: the development of bicycle parking lots, charging for them, and the designation of areas where bicycle parking is prohibited. In this way, the city is working to ensure a good urban environment and smooth traffic flow.
Bicycles and Mini-motorcycles Parking Prohibited Areas
Around stations (within a range of approximately 300 meters from the station) there are designated areas where bicycles and mini-motorcycles are not allowed to be left unattended, and any abandoned bicycles and mini-motorcycles are removed.
"Abandoned" refers to a situation where the user of a bicycle or mini-motorcycle leaves and is unable to immediately move it.
Therefore, even if the user is only going shopping or running an errand for a short time, being unable to move their bicycle or mini-motorcycle immediately is considered abandoned and will be subject to removal.
Furthermore, bicycles and mini-motorcycles that are left on braille blocks, obstructing the passage of pedestrians or vehicles, or in locations where they serve as an "encouragement" and cause more bicycles and mini-motorcycles to snowball are immediately removed upon discovery.
When returning a removed bicycle and mini-motorcycle, a removal and storage fee will be charged.
In areas where parking is prohibited, signs and billboards like those displayed are set up. Please park your bicycle and mini-motorcycle in a bicycle parking lot.
