International Sister and Friendship Cities

Berkeley's sister city relationship with Sakai was established on November 3, 1967.

Located in Jiangsu Province, the People's Republic of China, Lianyungang is a major industrial city. The port of Lianyungang, which is one of the eight most important ports in China, has also entered a friendship link with Sakai-Semboku Port.
Lianyungang's population is approximately 4.70 million and the land area is 7,500 square kilometers.
The friendship city agreement with Sakai was established on December 3, 1983.

The city of Wellington is the capital of New Zealand, and the center of the nation's politics and culture. It is also known as the southernmost capital city in the world. Blessed with a natural port and surrounded by the ocean and hills, Wellington is a beautiful verdant city which has been developed as a port town. The population is approximately 160,000, and the land area is 290 square kilometers. The sister city relationship with Sakai was established on February 4, 1994.

Located on the central coast, it is well known as a popular tourist spot blessed with luxury beach resorts and nearby UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Hoi An Ancient Town, Complex of Hue Monuments and My Son Sanctuary.
The population is approximately 1 million and the land area is 1,285 square kilometers.
