Guide to Sakai City Libraries
Registration－how to make a library card
- A library card (貸出カード) is required to borrow library items.
- A library card is valid at any city library in Sakai City.
- A library card can be issued for free even for a baby under one year old.
- User registration must be renewed every 4 years.

| Those who live in the cities of Izumiotsu, Izumi ,Osakasayama or Takaishi, or in Tadaoka Town. | Limited service library card |
*Note1：With a limited service library card, reservation and digital book loan service are not available.
- To register, please submit a completed application form (登録申請書) and identification to the circulation desk.
- If you live outside Sakai City, please bring the proof of your eligibility.

Borrowing
- Please bring your library card and the items to the circulation desk(貸出カウンター).
- Please note that some items cannot be checked out (newspapers, latest issues of magazines etc.).
- The loan period can be extended onece for 2 weeks from the day you apply, if the items are not booked by someoneelse or overdue.

Returning
- You can return items at any city library in Sakai City (excluding a mobile library).
- Please bring items to the circulation desk (返却カウンター). You don't need your library card.
- When libraries are closed, please return items to the book drop (返却ポスト).
Note!
- Please handle all library items with care. If you lose or damage them , you will be required to compensate the loss.
- Please do not use the book drop (返却ポスト） for fragile items such as CDs and DVDs, as well as, items borrowed outside Sakai City. Please bring these items to the circulation desk.
Reserving
- If the item you would like to borrow is not on the shelf, you can reserve it.
- Up to 15 items can be reserved.
- You may make a reservation through a library computer ,the library website or at the circulation desk.
- You can confirm the status through a library computer or the library website.
- If you have registed your e-mail address, you will receive notifications by e-mail.
Reference Services
- Library staffs are happy to provide consultations on your reading and research, reference assistance and explanations of library materials. Please ask them at the circulation desk.
- you can use the internet and online database for free (library card necessary).
- Libraries offer public computers and Wifi you can use. please ask the library staff,
