Sakai City Scholarships for FY2026 (High School Students)

Outline
For households with financial difficulties sending their children to senior high school etc., a grant-type scholarship is available. Financial assistance is granted to those selected, following a review of income and household conditions, prioritizing households with higher levels of need.
Those applicable to both of the following conditions are eligible:
● Students enrolled in one of the following senior high schools as of July 1st 2026, and has been commuting from a residence in Sakai. Senior high schools, private schools (senior levels only), technical colleges (1st -3rd grades), vocational schools (senior courses only), support schools (senior levels only)
● Total income of all persons in parental authority in 2025 must be within the criteria:
However, those receiving public assistance (livelihood assistance) or are exempted from prefectural and municipal inhabitant’s tax (income-based portion) and also can receive Osaka Prefectural Government’s “Support Payments for Attending School” are not eligible for this assistance.
Furthermore, for those who receive the “Support Payments for Attending School” and do not belong to public assistance or income‑tax‑exempt households, the amount received may be adjusted in coordination with this city’s scholarship.
Application period starts from August. (Details will be notified separately).
Applicants who apply at their local ward office should bring their name seal and a copy of documentation showing a bank account in their child’s name. Applications by post or city’s e-application system are also valid.
Applicants will be notified around January by mail on whether or not they will receive the assistance.
People who intend to apply but who have not made an income declaration should do so. People who moved into Sakai on or after January 2nd, 2026, should provide a FY 2026 tax certificate from their previous municipal government around August.
