Application for Financial Assistance for Senior High School Students for FY2023

For households with financial difficulties sending their children to senior high school etc., assistance of up to 32,000 yen a year is available. Financial assistance is granted following the results of a screening process with assistance administered to the 480 students most in need.

• Students enrolled in one of the following senior high schools as of 1 July 2023, and has been commuting from a residence in Sakai.
• First year students (those who entered from this school year only) of senior high school, private school (senior levels only), technical colleges, vocational schools (senior courses lasting two or more years only)
• First to third year students of support schools (senior levels only, excludes specialist courses)

• 2 person household – 2.08 million yen or less.
• 3 person household – 2.52 million yen or less
• 4 person household – 2.82 million yen or less
• 5 person household – 3.33 million yen or less
• 6 person household – 3.68 million yen or less

However, those who can receive Osaka Prefectural Government’s “Support Payments for Attending School” (奨学のための給付金 shogakuno tameno kyufuki) aka those receive public assistance (生活保護 seikatsuhogo/ 生活扶助 seikatsufujo) or are exempted from municipal tax income-based portion) are not eligible for this assistance.

Application period is 3-12 July (excluding weekends)

Applicants can apply at their local ward office with their name seal (印鑑 inkan) and documentation showing a bank account in their child’s name.
Applicants will be notified in around November by mail on whether or not their will receive the assistance.
People who intend to apply but who have not made an income declaration should do so. People who moved into Sakai on or after 2 January 2023 should provide a FY2023 tax certificate (課税証明書 kazeishomeisho ) from their previous municipal government in September.
