MONJUZUKA

MONJUZUKA KOFUN

Location Uenoshiba Mukougaoka-cho 1, Nishi-ku

Located on the southern edge of the Mozu Tumulus Group, Monjuzuka Kofun is a keyhole-shaped burial mound, constructed away from major kofun. Facing west, the mound is on the plateau, south of the Kudaragawa River. The mound measures approximately 59.1 meters long, with the round part about 36.3 meters in diameter and 5 meters high and the square part about 27.3 meters wide and 4 meters high. The existence of surrounding moat has not been confirmed. Sue ware haniwa has been collected, but the structure of the main burial facility and its grave goods have not been revealed.
You can get a good view of the mound from the southern and western streets.
It is designated as one of national historic sites.

It has been confirmed that at one time clay figures had existed,
but the structure and artifacts contained within the mound are unknown. On the west and south sides of the mound is a walk path from which you can view the burial mound through a fence.
