MARUHOYAMA
MARUHOYAMA KOFUN
Location Kitamaruho-en, Sakai-ku
Facing south, it is a keyhole-shaped burial mound, built close to the west side of the rear round part of the Nintoku-tenno-ryo Kofun. The mound is approximately 87 meters long, with the round portion 60 meters in diameter and 9.8 meters high and the square portion about 40 meters wide and 2.7 meters high.
Due to the cultivation in 1955, the front square portion became short and flat. There is a single moat surrounding the mound. The round portion is under the Imperial Household Agency whereas the square portion under the city.
As well as Nagayama Kofun, You can get a good view of Moruhoyama Kofun from the surrounding street.
It is one of national historic sites among the Mozu Tumulus Group.
