GOBYOUOMOTEZUKA
GOBYO-OMOTEZUKA KOFUN
Location Nakamozu-cho 4, Kita-ku
Located in Nakamozu-cho, Gobyo-omotezuka Kofun is a keyhole-shaped burial mound, with once existed square part facing west.
However, it has been lost, and also the moat has been mostly reclaimed except one part by the rear round portion. That’s why it looks like a round kofun. However, originally, it was in the shape of scallop shell.
The mound measured approximately 84.8 meters long, with the round part about 67.6 meters in diameter and 8 meters high. The rear round part was built in two tiers.
An excavation found a row of cylindrical haniwa.
It is designated as one of national historic sites.
The mound's overall length is approx. 84.8 meters and the rear circular portion's diameter is roughly 67.6 meters. The height is approx. 8 meters and the circular portion has a two-tiered construction. There are clay figures and small stone buttresses.
