Screening Process
Due to revisions made for the 4th award regarding preferable candidates, the screening focus was placed more than before on steady, civic and grassroots efforts, and a review was conducted on the candidates for the 1st to 3rd awards in compliance with the new screening criteria. Moreover, in July 2015, award eligibility was revised to recognize worthy organizations, especially those engaged in activities that are easy for citizens to participate in to promote international interaction, cooperation, and contribution. In line with the revised eligibility criteria stipulating that candidates should be organizations, not individuals that have their main offices in Japan, 21 candidate organizations classified as “domestic organizations” for the 1st to the 3rd awards were screened for the 5th award.
The Screening Committee for the SAKAI Peace Contribution Award submitted screening results regarding the 21 eligible candidate organizations, based upon which Sakai City finally determined the award recipients.
