Mystery No.6 What existed outside kofun? (Fukiishi paving stones)

Paving stones were placed on the slope of kofun. At the bottom of the slope, bigger stones were used. Bigger stones placed lengthwise to divide the area into sections were sometimes found. It is possible that, while building a kofun, each section was taken by each person or each group to work. At Nisanzai Kofun, a site of fukiishi rather scattered was found. It seems that gradually finishing work of fukiishi became simpler and poorer.
