Support Ukraine – Charity Ballet Concert

This special stage of popular ballet scenes and collaboration with Japanese drums is directed by a global ballet dancer Hariyama Emi.

Shadow Puppet Show from Java Island, Indonesia & Workshop

Wayang kulit is a traditional shadow puppet show from Indonesia that is registered as an UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. In this event, you can see an authentic stage from all angles and then try make your own shadow puppet in the workshop.

Sakai Tea Ceremony

Sakai is the hometown of grand tea master Sen no Rikyu. The city has a tea ceremony ordinance that encourages anyone and everyone to enjoy chanoyu culture. Come enjoy a cup of matcha green tea and traditional Japanese sweet!

Cost: Free. No reservations required however numbered tickets will be handed out from 13:30, first come first served.

India Picture Exhibition “How We See Each Other”

This exhibition consists of pictures drawn by students from Sakai and India after they studied about each other’s country.
Date: 14-21 August
Time: 9:00-21:00 (first day from 12:00, last day until 16:30)
Place: 1F High-rise Building (kosokan), Sakai City Hall
Cost: Free admission

World Children’s Meeting

Get to know about languages and cultures of different countries.
Eligibility: Children living or studying in Sakai with roots in other countries + their guardians
Date & Time: 21 August, 9:30-15:00
Place: Shorinji Elementary School (4-1-1 Shorinjicho-higashi, Sakai-ku)
