Sick Childcare Services

If a child is unable to attend their usual childcare center due to sickness or injury and childcare at home is difficult due to circumstances of parents' work, temporary childcare at a dedicated nursery facility or one's home is available. This service can be used after the acute period until recovery.
However this service cannot be used in the following cases:

• The child has tested positive for COVID-19 or is a close contact of someone who tested positive
• The child is under the age of 2 and has a cough
• The child is 2 year and older but cannot wear a mask
• There is someone with a fever or cough within the child’s family
• The child requires cradling for long periods of time
• A member of the child’s family tested positive for COVID-19 or is a close contact case.
• The child’s or child’s siblings’ schools closed due to a case of COVID-19, or within 2 weeks from the first day of closure.

Target children: 6 months to 6th grade primary school residing in Sakai City
Target illnesses: illnesses that can be treated with ordinary outpatient care (e.g. common cold, diarrhea, infectious diseases such as rubella and chronic illnesses such as asthma) and traumatic injuries (such as fractures)
Period of use: up to 7 consecutive days
Usage fee: 2,500 yen per child per day
Households living on welfare or with resident tax exemption: 500 yen per child per day
Households living in Sakai City with income tax exemption: 1,500 yen per child per day
*there may be a separate expense charges

Visits: 700 yen per hour (300 yen per hour for households on welfare or with resident tax exemption)

How to use:

1. Pre-registration: Required for each facility when using facility service
Please fill in the “Sakai City Sick Childcare Application Form” (堺市病児・病後児保育登録申請書 sakaishi byoji byogoji hoiku toroku shinseisho and “Child Information Form” (児童票 jidohyo) and submit to the facility that you wish to use. For visits, submit the forms to the Center Office 2F B Room, 2-4 Shinmachi, Sakai-ku (TEL: 072-228-7668 Email: houmon@yurikagonetwork.com)
Note: Households withon welfare and/or with tax exemption must bring official documents for verification when registering.

3. Consultation with a family doctor: A "Medical Information Form” (診療情報提供書 shinryojoho teikyosho) filled by a family doctor is required for admittance to the facility or receiving a visit.
Note: The Medical Information Form can’t be filled at Emergency Medical Centers on holidays and at night hospitals.

4. Reservation: Please make a reservation by telephone to the facility on the day before or on the day of use. Please fill in the “Sakai City Sick Childcare Admission Form” (堺市病児・病後児保育利用申込書 sakaishi byoji byogoji hoiku riyo moshikomisho) and hand it in upon arrival. You can check the vacancies of every facility on the “Sakai Child Support App”.
In case of cancellation, please be sure to contact by the time specified by the facility.

5. Admittance: Upon arrival, please pay the usage fee and bring the “Sakai City Sick Childcare Admission Form”, “Medical Information Form” and other information on medicines and allergy etc. for submission.

Things to Bring:
Necessary clothing, pajamas, bath towels (please prepare extra items if your child has symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea)
Bag for dirty items
If necessary: medicine, milk, baby bottles, diapers (cloth or paper)
