THE DIGITAL BURIAL MOUND ENCYCLOPEDIA

KATONBOYAMA TUMULUS

Location

Mozuakahata-cho 5, Sakai City

It is a round burial mound, located in the east side of the round part of Gobyoyama Tumulus, and considered to be its baizuka(sub-tumulus). The excavation survey was conducted in 1949, when much of the mound had already been destroyed. The mound was thought to have been two staged, about 50 meters long and 6 meters high. There were fukiishi stones and a line of clay figures. Almost all the tomb furnishings buried with the dead, including a bronze mirror, two sided mirrors, iron weapons, and balls were excavated during surveys.
