Calendar and Announcements

From the Editor

I am sure many of you have heard the saying "time flies when you're having fun" and that is very true for me at the moment. It is hard to believe that my year in Sakai has come to an end and that by the time you read this I will almost be back home in Wellington, New Zealand. I would like to thank you all for reading City Life over this year and I hope you will continue to enjoy this newsletter for many years to come. My successor is also from Wellington so I am sure you will welcome him to Sakai like you have me and that you will enjoy reading his newsletter. All the best!

- Melissa

Water Safety this Summer

Water Safety this Summer

As it gets to the height of summer it is nice to cool off in a swimming pool or the ocean, or relax leisurely and camp by the riverside but we must not forget the dangers of water. We often hear about cases of children getting in trouble in the water but there are also many accidents involving adults. To avoid this please follow these simple rules and call 119 for help if you are in trouble:
- Never take your eyes off children. It is best to swim with them
- Do not swim if you have been drinking
- Be aware of changing weather conditions
- When fishing or on a boat, wear a life jacket

Smoking and Littering Ban

This ban covers the areas in front of Sakai Higashi Station, the open areas East and West of Sakai Station, Oshoji Street and the area around Sakai City Hall.

City Officials will be patrolling these areas and if you are smoking or littering you will be fined \1000. This includes while you are riding your bicycle or motorbike. Your cooperation to keep Sakai City safe and beautiful for everyone by abiding by this ordinance is appreciated.
